Introduction
Kosovo has completed the
transition from post-conflict reconstruction, characterized by heavy
financial and human involvement of the international community, into
socio-economic development, aiming towards a comprehensive and
sustainable economic growth. Similar to other Balkan countries, Kosovo
faces an additional transition challenge from a socialist economy to a
market oriented system.
This still on-going transition process is
critical for the future economic development of Kosovo which in turn is
a necessary condition for generating required income earning and
employment opportunities for improving the living conditions of the Kosovar population. But the still pending definition of Kosovo’s
status, ethnic conflicts and no clear policy on how to deal with former
state owned enterprises are factors which hinder investments and
Kosovo’s economic development.
What is our project for women in business?
Women Business Development
Project (WBDP) is a project implemented by Swisscontact on behalf of the
Swiss Government. Main goal of WBDP is to contribute to the increased
effective participation of women in the formal economy in Kosovo through
marketing of improved services by local service providers with respect
to meeting the increasing demand of economically active women. The
project is emphasizing on women’s income generation in growth-oriented
sectors.
WBDP facilitates the
market for Business Development Services (BDS) in the Dukagjini Region
